Writing Every Day

I have come to the conclusion, not an original one, that this is THE biggest, most important tool you have, if you want to be a writer. It really almost comes down to the watershed between the serious writer (who wants to be published and keep selling, or who just wants to be serious) and the wannabe. If you write every day, you might still not be particularly serious, just habitual. However, if you don’t write every day, don’t ask yourself any other questions about why your writing career isn’t happening.

It’s probably good if you can write part of a story every day, but if you are writing anything daily… blogs, journaling, information, anything that involves coherent sentences being formed and word choice being made, then you are doing better than most people who say ‘I want to be a writer.’ Give yourself a pat on the back and keep at it, you have crossed the watershed!
