Halfway Through NaNo

I’m 50,046 words as of today, halfway through NaNo. Whew! So I’ve learned that while I *could* write 100,000 words a month, any faster than about 3000 words a day and I start hating it. So I think my goal, for the next year at least, will be to get 2000 words a day average, with a strong leaning toward doing that EVERY day. That doesn’t count research, web posting, marketing, revising, polishing, querying, or business matters, which is what the rest of the day will consist of (also not mentioning parenting, housework, hobby or social time, sigh).

That’s a novel every 6 months what with polishing and research and stuff. Pretty good.

Word Count: 3872

Wow, 3000 words a day is extraordinary. No way I could do that. The 50,000 word count that NaNoWriMo encourages is more of a novella than a novel, but you really are writing a novel-length work. Good luck.

Thank you! Much appreciated. Yes, 50,000 is a short novel, but it’s a good goal for a month’s all-out sprint, I think. Not too long to be done at all, but long enough to make it a real accomplishment if you manage.
