Pretty much all of us feel that we’re the protagonist. Even the people you most disagree with… even the people you feel are downright evil… are just as much at the center of the universe as you are. Every one of them feels that they are the good guy in the story of their lives. Just as much as you do.

When you’re writing a bad guy, don’t forget that from his point of view, he’s doing his best according to what he knows. Realistically, nobody sets out to do evil. This idea makes your antagonist just as interesting and depthful as your protagonist.

And maybe lets you see the point of view of those people you disagree with… even if it’s just a little bit.
